Perfection

Lately, I’ve been feeling trapped” she said.
“Trapped in my own life. Trapped by my own love for you.
Is it possible to want to be totally devoted to someone and want complete freedom at the same time? That’s what I want Parker. Why isn’t that possible!?”
He replied with an unyielding stare, “because Isabella it’s the world we live in. It has given us so much choice, so many options. The illusion that something “perfect” is out there, that the grass is always greener on the other side.”
The above is an excerpt from an untitled novel I’ve been working on for some time.
Please let me know what you think in the comments below. Now on to the topic at hand
Perfection,
That’s a fun subject to tackle.
It’s something we pursue, but can rarely realistically achieve.
The pursuit of it is what’s held me back in the past from starting something like this earlier.
Never feeling quite right to jump into the deep end of the pool until your tall enough for your feet to touch the bottom is the type of fear that holds people back from learning how to swim in life.
Your waiting for perfection or the perfect moment is letting fear and an excuse paralyze you.
Not making a decision or taking an action to risk the safety of our comfort zones.
We hide behind preconceived notions of how we are to act, how to feel, and what is just too much for other people to see, crawling back into bed and hiding under the covers because it’s just too cold to get up. It’s a cold world we live in, and you’ll rarely find someone running around handing out blankets.
We want to be seen as perfect, we want everything to be in our control, but nothing is. And that’s an uneasy thought to confront. It’s one that needs to be made peace with. That despite your best efforts and intentions nothing is truly perfect and few things are in our control as best as we can rationalize things to ourselves, that is where we regain or sanity and peace of mind.
So don’t strive for perfection
Strive more the pursuit of perfection.
Albeit unreachable there is something perfect in the pursuit itself
Pursue what’s in your heart
And the rest will take care of itself
Thanks for reading.IMG_4577
